Staff Profiles

Denise Wilson - Centre Manager
Denise is a British Horse Society Stable Manger and Intermediate Instructor. Denise has competed nationally in Eventing and Showing but her particular passion is Dressage. Denise has worked at Stepney for 10 years. In her previous role she was yard Manager at a large National Hunt stud. Denise brings a rich equestrian background to SBS and works closely with all staff for all our training and personal development.  Denise is available to teach during the day.

Sarah Steel-Hoath - Assistant Manager

Sarah has returned to Stepney after being away for a couple of years.  Sarah has worked for a number of different professional yards since acheiving an HND in Equine Business Managment, her background is Eventing. Sarah competed Nationally for a number of years and is a Sports Massage therapist, currently training to treat our horses!






Mia Storey-Coates - Receptionist

Mia also takes bookings, handles phone calls, reply’s to emails, maintains administrative/reception areas keeping them pretty and keeps everything in order.




Fran Norton – Instructor and Yard Support 
Fran is currently training through her BHS stages exams and has recently aquired her BHS Intermediate Stable Manager certificate. In her previous role she worked in an equestrian centre supporting adults with special needs. At Stepney she works alongside Denise on the yard and teaches lessons on Sundays and Wednesdays. Fran has a young horse at home whom she is starting to train.

Tracey Hutchinson - Instructor

Tracey is a British Horse Society Assistant Instructor and a level 1 Centred Riding Instructor. She takes a coaching approach to her work using a variety of techniques such as positive psychology and neuro lingustic programming to help people understand their riding. She particularly enjoys working with people new to the sport or who wish to regain their confidence. She has her own horse and successfully competes in British Dressage affiliated competitons.

Lauren Kay - Instructor

Lauren teaches lessons on a Sunday, Monday and Tuesday mainly privates in the outdoor and spends time with her own pony in her spare time. 



Kirstie Storey - Instructor & Yard Support

Kirstie joined us as a young volunteer in the project when she was just 11!  Now after completing her foundation degree in health and social care, she works with us instructing, delivering volunteer training and assisting on the yard. She competes her horse in local dressage competitions in her spare time.


Leanne Macbeth - Instrucutor & Yard Staff

Leanne was once a young person in the project herself!  Now she teaches and works hard on yard with the rest of the team.  She has horses of her own who she spends all her spare time eventing, whilst trainign for her BHS exams.





Larnie Moule - Yard Worker

Larnie joined as a young volunteer and then went away to work on showing and dressage yards as an apprentice. She now runs the yard during the evenings, makes sure that horses are in the right place at the right time for lessons and that all the volunteers are doing what they are meant to!

Aidan Marsden - Youth Worker and Alternative Provision

Aidan is part of our Youth Team which delivers training, activities and trips to our young volunteers. She also delivers Alternative Provision to our students who attend during the week. She has a degree in Equine Sports Science and has worked on a variety of different yards. She is also a qualified teacher and has 6 years of experience as a Primary School Teacher. Aidan has her own pony called Gemini and is currently working towards her BHS teaching exams.

Kate Harvey - Apprentice Youth Worker

Kate started with us as a young person and was a scholar for three years previously, and now joined our youth team, doing a youth work apprenticeship. Kate runs the Junior Volunteer Club, and is working towards her PTT.



Olivia Pringle - Sessional Youth Worker and Yard Worker

Olivia started with us as a young person and has now joined the youth work team. She recently competed in the National Riding School Championships on Lara. Olivia has just completed her Youth Work apprenticeship and now joins the team as a sessional worker covering the project.
